Jacqui’s Story

Jacqui came into care on the 8th June, 2009, she weighed 786 grams. Her mother had been hit by a car and the driver knew to stop and check that the wombat was dead and also if there was a baby and a pouch.

Jacqui showed the stubborn streak which will serve her well when she grows up as she resisted being taken out of her warm, safe environment

. At this stage of her life she had never left the pouch before.

She soon settled into the routine of 4 hourly feeds around the clock – those 2am feeds are a killer and rapidly grew.

By the 16.4.09 she weighed 1.175kg and wasn’t being fed overnight.
